For Star Wars Fans - The Return of Cassian Andor!
Outside of the original trilogy, the films of the Star Wars universe polarise fans like the rift between the light and dark side of The Force.
There is however one film that, to this writer and Star Wars fan, wins out. It pays homage to the films of the ‘70s and ‘80s, adds an important part to the Star Wars story and still manages to be a really great piece of movie entertainment… Rogue One, or, to give it it’s full title, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Set immediately before the events of Star Wars (I still struggle to call it A New Hope), Rogue One cleverly dovetails in to the 1977 film, explaining who those Rebel spies were, how they managed to get hold of the Death Star plans, and, how those plans came to be aboard Princess Leia’s Alderaan cruiser, the Tantive IV.
Along the way, we meet Rebel spy Cassian Andor. Instrumental in the capture of the Death Star plans, he would play a large role in the film, but we knew very little of his history. A ruthless streak, sharpened by personal loss, is hinted at early on. A total commitment to the cause, whatever the personal cost, plays out in the final scenes of the movie. But we are told no more of this hero's journey.

Disney and Lucasfilm have just released an exciting new trailer for Andor, a tense espionage thriller over twelve episodes and set five years prior to Rogue One.

Disney tell us that the series explores a new perspective from the Star Wars galaxy, focusing on Cassian Andor’s journey to discover the difference one man can make. The series brings forward the tale of the burgeoning rebellion against the Empire and how people and planets became involved. It’s an era filled with danger, deception and intrigue where Cassian will embark on the path that is destined to turn him into a rebel hero.

Diego Luna returns as Cassian Andor and is joined by cast members Genevieve O’Reilly, Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller and Fiona Shaw.
Originally due for release in August (and that was the date given on the first posters). Andor will now debut its first three episodes on 21st September 2022.
A second twelve-episode series will take the Andor story all the way to the events of Rogue One.
This Star Wars fan cannot wait!
